Walking day 1

Happy May Day!! Day 1 of our walk was beautiful. The weather the past few weeks has been rainy. Today was clear and sunny in the mid-50s. It's like it became perfect just for us. We met for breakfast around 7:30 and started the walk at 9:15. We saw so many dogs along the way it was ridiculous - pointers, setters, and spaniels mostly. The leash laws here must be different. Nobody had their dogs on a leash and the dogs couldn't have cared less about us. We saw a lot of sheep and lambs today. We also saw some red deer in a field.

About halfway through our trip we stopped at Glengoyne Distillery. The tour (and two drams) were fantastic! We learned you're supposed to say "slainte mtath" instead of cheers. Eric probably knew that. He's been telling us he speaks Gaelic.

Eric enjoys the countryside of Scotland. Everybody here can pronounce his last name. He's convinced that means he's Scottish. More to come on that.

We're all tired this evening. Tomorrow is 2 miles longer than today. Wish us all luck.

4 pubs in one day

Who says 4 pubs in one day is too many? Not us!!

Brangelina and a shamrock

We didn't know until we left, but we liked the same hole in the wall Irish pub Brangelina likes! The bartender there was nice enough to put a shamrock in my Guinness.

Exploring Glasgow

We've made it to Glasgow and we finally got a night of sleep. That was after dinner with drinks. It might be dangerous that scotch is the same price as beer?? Auchentoshan is $11/pour at home. It's $5 here. Eric might never leave.

This morning we had breakfast at the hotel and now we're shopping. Turns out I should have packed a sweater. Fifty degrees seems warmish until I remember it's been 80s at home.

We head to Milngavie (pronounced mull-guy) this afternoon. We start our walk there tomorrow. We're all on lookout for Cathy's belongings. So far we've only had to go back for a couple things. Oh, and Jeff forgot his umbrella in a shop so Cathy was vindicated.

Must have an accent

Cathy and I each ordered an americano at Starbucks. They came served to Justin and Candy. Sometimes it's easier to just go with it. Who knew we had such accents???

Made it to Dublin

We're on the second layover. We have about 6 hours before we fly on to Glasgow. Do we all look wrecked? Not likely!! =)

On the plane ready to go

It's 8:30pm and we're sitting on the plane in Atlanta waiting to take off. When we land we'll be in Dublin and it will be 9:40am. Neither of us have been to Ireland before. We have a 6ish hour layover before heading on to Glasgow. After 6 months of planning I can't believe it's finally here. Let the adventure begin!
